The short answer
Your Ohio utility publishes a Price to Compare: the price per kilowatt-hour (kWh) you'd pay for electricity supply if you stayed on the utility's default supply rather than choosing a competing supplier. It's the yardstick for every shopping decision.
AutoSave uses this benchmark too — it compares a personalized Think Energy rate against your utility's applicable Price to Compare. It does not shop every competing supplier.
Where to find it
The Price to Compare usually appears on your electricity bill, often in a "shopping" or "supplier" information box. You can also find current values on the official Ohio Apples to Apples tool from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

The highlighted Price to Compare (6.8¢/kWh) is the benchmark. If a competing supplier offers less than this for supply, you could save on the supply portion. Delivery is separate and unaffected.
How to use it
- Find the Price to Compare on your bill (cents per kWh).
- Compare any competing supplier's supply rate against it.
- Remember: only the supply portion is affected by switching. Delivery stays the same.
- Factor in contract terms, fees, and rate type (fixed vs. variable).
What AutoSave does with it
AutoSave compares a personalized Think Energy rate to your utility's applicable Price to Compare. But note the limits: the benchmark is a supply comparison, it can change, and later changes to a utility's published comparison rate have exclusions under the AutoSave agreement. Savings protection is about the defined supply benchmark — not your entire bill.
Common questions
Does the Price to Compare change?
Yes. Utilities update it periodically. That's why a snapshot from your bill may differ from the current official figure — always check Apples to Apples for the latest.
Is the Price to Compare my total rate?
No. It covers only the supply portion. Your total rate per kWh also includes delivery charges, which are separate.
